Lebanon County Commission for Women
In the United States, the Commission for Women was initially established to ensure that states comply with the ERA-Equal Rights Amendment. The Pennsylvania Commission for Women was founded in 1974 with the goal of becoming a catalyst for legislative changes. Today, Women’s Commissions exist in many developed countries around the world. The core mission of these groups is to raise public awareness about gender sensitivity, address women-related issues, and challenge gender stereotypes.
In 2003, the Lebanon County Commission for Women (LCCW) was established by the Lebanon County Commissioners. The purpose behind its formation was to inform and advise the Commissioners on issues of concern to women in Lebanon County. The mission of the Commission is to raise awareness, be a catalyst for change, and facilitate action in matters concerning women and their families. The LCCW encourages women and men of all ages who reside in Lebanon County to apply for membership.
