Committees and Initiatives

Every Member is Required to Join a Committee to Help Drive our Initiatives

Nominating Committee

  • Seek nominations and secure candidates for Commission membership.
  • Conduct interview sessions for potential Commission members.
  • Bring nominees forward for approval from Commission and County Commissioners.
  • Work with Commission officers to coordinate new member orientations.
  • Monitor members’ terms and inform the Commission of members eligible for term renewals.
  • Conduct an annual nomination and election process for the officers of the Commission.

Public Relations and Education Committee

  • Advise and assist the Commission on education related issues pertaining to women.
  • Communicate with local educational entities on needs and current issues affecting their populations and share that information with the Hot Topics Committee.
  • Suggest potential educational activities/events in which the Commission can participate (Junior Achievement, Excellence in Education).
  • Produce annual articles highlighting local women or issues affecting local women in conjunction with Women’s History Month.
  • Work with the Public Relations committee to determine media contact and distribution.
  • Keep Commission for Women webpage current with all information.
  • Maintain all social media outlets.
  • Assist the Executive committee with the design of the Annual Report.
  • Organize radio PSA’s for any commission events.
  • Work with all committee to assist with marketing needs.

Hall of Fame Committee

  • Plan and implement the annual Women’s Hall of Fame awards luncheon.
    Organize the call for nominations and selection process for inductees.
  • Develop the event program and collect biographical information from inductees and nominators.
  • Manage logistical needs including event facility and registration.
    Write all press releases and media requests for the event. Work with the Public Relations Committee for additional marketing needs.

Glass Slipper Project Committee

  • Plan and implement the annual Glass Slipper project.
  • Identify community partners that will serve as dress drop-off points.
  • Manage all logistical needs including date and facility selection, dress transportation, and organization.
  • Work with community partners to organize volunteers and programs in conjunction with the dress sale.
  • Write all press releases and media requests for the event. Work with the Public Relations Committee for additional marketing needs.

Projects Committee

  • Identify annual projects, special events, or other opportunities that empower and encourage women.
  • Conduct projects that include needs assessment, implementation, and evaluation.
    Discover opportunities for signature projects that will increase recognition of the Commission in the greater community.
  • Identify other organizations and entities for project collaboration.
    Work with the Public Relations committee to develop all press and media coverage of activities and projects.
