Bonnie Loy was born and raised in Ebenezer, Lebanon County. After graduating from Cedar Crest High School, she attended the Lebanon County Vo-Tech, where she completed the Practical Nurse Program.
Bonnie has had a career serving the veterans of Lebanon County. She retired as Manager of Respiratory Therapy after working for 32 years at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. During her service at the VA, Bonnie achieved her certification from the American Board of Disability Analysts and volunteered her time and personal resources to aid veterans which she continues to this day.
Bonnie participates in various community volunteer organizations. She has been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) since 1988 and has been involved and recognized with awards. Bonnie assists women aspiring to join DAR by researching their ancestry and connection to the Revolutionary War. Presently, she serves as the DAR Chapter Regent and is part of the President General’s Project for the next three years.
One of Bonnie’s activities includes bringing “Wreaths Across America” to Covenant Greenwood Ebenezer Cemetery, where 1,200 veterans are interred, in 2019. Through her oversight and collaboration with the Ebenezer Beautification Committee, the Ebenezer Fire Company, and her church, the event continues.
Bonnie contributes to local historic preservation efforts by collaborating with various organizations to maintain Lebanon County’s heritage. She serves as Co-Chair of the Lebanon County 250th Committee. Her interest in history and community service includes participation in projects focused on highlighting and preserving historical narratives.
