Susan Hostetter has been a driving force in arts and community building in Mt. Gretna for many years, including the creation of the Mt. Gretna Organization Organizers (MCGOOs). Susan has been the face of the Mount Gretna Area Historical Society and Mount Joy Historical Society, serving as president for both organizations. She has been an active member of the Gretna Music Board of Directors since 2008, serving as President.
Susan serves on the Chautauqua Board of Managers, Chautauqua Foundation, and Gretna Music. She leads the Chautauqua Summer Program and is president of the Mt. Gretna Area Historical Society. During the pandemic, Susan rose to the challenge and helped pull together close to 100 Summer Program activities, offering them innovative ways to enrich our community. She supports the efforts of women leaders in the Mt. Gretna Area and often collaborates with them to obtain community grants. Susan leads the annual Stewart Society fundraising efforts to provide financial stability for Summer Programs. The summer programs highlight the achievement of women authors and artists.
Susan also served as match moderator and treasurer of the Lebanon/Lancaster Quiz Bowl League. Prior to that, she was a coach at Penn Manor for ten years helping students in the process. In addition, Susan mentors summer interns who work in the Mt. Gretna Visitor’s Center. She is active with her church where she runs the children’s programs and helps at their summer camp. Susan is a respected member of the Mt Gretna Community due to her personal interactions with residents and visitors alike.
