Lisa Spencer was born and raised in Oak Park, Michigan. She went to Wayne State University and completed a Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy Technology. Lisa started her career in Chicago, Illinois and lived there for almost 25 years. While there, she worked as a Radiation Therapist. On completion of her Masters of Adult Education from National Louis University she moved into administration once. Lisa managed 2 Cancer Centers while in Illinois and was an avid volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
In 2007, Lisa moved to Pennsylvania and taught Radiation Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University. In 2011, she went back to patient care which was her true passion. Lisa began working at Penn State Health – St. Joseph as their Breast Care Patient Navigator. She coordinates multidisciplinary breast cancer clinics, survivorship programs, community grant programs, and navigation systems. Lisa commits herself to identifying resources to help address patient financial, transportation, and psychosocial concerns. She has achieved certifications in Breast Health Navigation, Oncology Navigation and Mastectomy Fitting.
Lisa began volunteering for Breast Cancer Support Services in 2012 and was Board President from 2015 to 2020, returning to the Board in 2022. Lisa volunteers for the American Cancer Society once again, where she has received Distinguished Service awards in education and leadership. She is the epitome of a role model for servant leadership, kindness, and dedication to making her community a better place. She contributes to the social well-being of her patients by encouraging those who have breast cancer not to let their diagnosis define them.
