Loreen Burkett is a tireless advocate and contributor to family justice, violence prevention, and safer communities. She began practicing law in Lebanon County after graduating from The Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. Initially she worked as a judicial law clerk and then for MidPenn Legal Services before opening her own practice.
Loreen served as a custody conciliator, mediator, and divorce master for the Lebanon County Court of Common Pleas. She served twenty-seven years as the County’s standing Guardian Ad Litem representing abused and neglected children who were in the legal system through Lebanon County Children and Youth Services.
In 1991, Loreen founded a custody clinic in Lebanon County to assist and give low-income residents access to the legal system. She continues to operate this clinic through MidPenn Legal Services. Over the years Loreen has achieved Pennsylvania Super Lawyer status fourteen times. Loreen was the second female President of the Lebanon County Bar Association and received the Pennsylvania Bar Association County Bar President’s Award for her leadership in that role, as she instituted the first Bar Association office location and hired the County Bar’s first Executive Director.
Loreen has served in a variety of leadership roles in the Lebanon County Bar Association as well as the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Her service includes the Board of Directors of Lebanon County Domestic Violence Intervention, service on the Board of Directors of SARCC, service on the Board of Cornwall Children’s Center and service on the Board of the now defunct United Forces for Veterans.
